At Athearn Sales Store, we’re committed to getting your HO scale model railroad products to you as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Order Processing

All orders are processed within 1-2 business days (excluding weekends and holidays).

Shipping Methods

We offer two shipping options to meet your needs:

  • Standard Shipping ($12.95):
    • Shipped via DHL or FedEx
    • Delivery within 10-15 business days after shipment
  • Free Shipping (Orders over $50):
    • Shipped via EMS
    • Delivery within 15-25 business days after shipment

Note: We currently ship worldwide, with the exception of some Asian countries and remote areas. Shipping times may vary depending on your location and customs processing.

Returns & Exchanges

We want you to be completely satisfied with your HO scale model railroad purchase. If you’re not happy with your order, we offer a straightforward returns and exchanges process.

Our Return Policy

You may return most items within 15 days of receiving your order for a refund or exchange.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Items must be unused, in original condition, and in their original packaging
  • All included parts and accessories must be present
  • A valid proof of purchase is required

Non-Returnable Items

Due to the nature of these specialized products, the following cannot be returned or exchanged:

  • HO Scale Detail Parts (small components that may be easily lost or damaged)
  • HO Scale Athearn Parts (specialty replacement parts)
  • HO Scale Couplers, Trucks, and Wheelsets (small mechanical components)
  • Any items marked as “Clearance” or “Final Sale”

How to Initiate a Return or Exchange

  1. Contact our customer service within 15 days of receiving your order by emailing [email protected] with your order number and product details.
  2. Receive return authorization – We’ll provide a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and return instructions.
  3. Package your return – Securely pack the item(s) in original packaging with all accessories and documentation. Include a copy of your order confirmation.
  4. Ship your return – Send to our warehouse at the address provided in your RMA instructions. We recommend using a trackable shipping service.

Refund Process

Once your return is received and inspected, we’ll email you about:

  • Confirmation we’ve received your returned item
  • Approval or rejection of your refund

If approved, your refund will be processed and credited to your original payment method within:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: 5-7 business days
  • PayPal: 3-5 business days

Important: Original shipping costs are non-refundable. If you received free shipping, the standard shipping fee ($12.95) will be deducted from your refund.

Exchanges

To exchange an item for a different size or model:

  1. Follow the standard return process above
  2. Once we receive your return, we’ll ship the replacement item
  3. You’re responsible for both return shipping and new item shipping costs

Damaged or Defective Items

If you receive a damaged or defective item, contact us immediately at [email protected] with photos of the damage and your order number. We’ll arrange a replacement or refund at no additional cost.
